Was established in 2020 after we saw the need for support for devastated families during their time of grief,  sadness, and loss. To us, losing a loved one is difficult and a painful experience, and having to rely on the community and family members to provide financial assistance is unnecessary stress that need not be added onto the problems of the already emotional family and friends left behind!

Although many do make financial provisions for the funeral, mainly the burial and coffin expenses, the catering costs for the funeral attendees are often the one thing that is not provided for and can be costly. Phalala Grocery Scheme not only wants to assist families by providing means for making provisions for the catering, but we also strive to provide something different that will allow families to grow closer and have more time to attend to other important funeral arrangements and support each other!

In today’s age, women have careers, and some work far from home. They don’t get the opportunity to participate in community social clubs or working groups, yet they need assistance.  Our mothers and elders, have other responsibilities in terms of the funeral to attend to, some have health issues, and expecting them to take on added responsibilities is unfair and unreasonable. They also need time to mourn and heal. Aside from that, people and communities are struggling, and we cannot always rely on their help.

When someone is bereaved, they’re fragile, emotional and sensitive. They have a lot to deal with and they need all the help they can get. The last thing they need is to move from one supermarket to next buying groceries. The bereaved can always use the time they spend arranging catering to focus on other pressing matters of the funeral arrangements.

Phalala Grocery Scheme seeks to relieve the bereaved of such pressure. Over and above the catering solution we provide our clients with the cooks/working group, mobile fridge, mobile toilet and the water tank.
